Tatanka refers to the American Bison in the Lakota language, a profoundly sacred and central figure in Plains Indigenous cultures, symbolizing self-sufficiency, generosity, and the very essence of life, providing food, shelter, tools, and spiritual guidance, with the word Tatanka (or Tȟatȟáŋka) representing its immense importance to the people.
